How We Partner with Your Church

There are approximately 10,000 children in North Carolina's foster care system -- children who need a home, children who need hope. The church is the answer.

Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina and the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina are on mission together because we believe that through the local church every child in the state’s foster care system can receive the safe, caring home he or she deserves. Through EVERY CHILD Foster & Adoption Ministry, we are able to equip churches and couples in the churches to accomplish this vital mission.

  • Train and license couples in your church who God is calling to foster or foster-to-adopt. Training takes place at your location on a schedule convenient for you.

  • Help your church establish its own ministry to provide ongoing community and support to the foster and adoptive parents in your congregation and their children

  • Provide ongoing support to your church and families. If there are issues or a crisis, we can consult with you.

  • Offer trauma-informed training to help with boys and girls who come from traumatic circumstances.

  • Train and license through a Christian perspective.

The heart of the EVERY CHILD Foster & Adoption Ministry is working directly with our network of almost 4,400 North Carolina Baptist churches to connect them with our foster and adoption staff. Imagine, if every church cared for three of the 10,000 children in North Carolina's foster care system, every child would have a caring home.

"Scripture is clear: God has called His church to care for orphans."

- Kyler Smith, Senior Associate Pastor, Hickory Grove Baptist, Charlotte

Kyler and Lauren Smith are not only foster parents but Kyler is the senior associate pastor at Hickory Grove Baptist in Charlotte. In this testimonial to pastors, Kyler shares why it is essential for the church to be involved in foster care and adoption.

HERE'S HOW YOUR CHURCH CAN GET INVOLVED...

Pray

Start Praying.

  1. PRAY THAT GOD WOULD REVEAL TO YOU HOW YOUR CHURCH CAN BE PART OF MINISTERING TO CHILDREN.

  2. PRAY FOR THE 16,000+ CHILDREN IN NORTH CAROLINA WHO ARE IN NEED OF A HOME. PRAY THAT THEY WOULD KNOW THE LOVE OF CHRIST AND FEEL IT THROUGH THE LOCAL BODY OF BELIEVERS.

Invite

Invite BCH to share at your church.

FIND A CONVENIENT TIME FOR A BAPTIST CHILDREN’S HOMES STAFF MEMBER TO COME TO YOUR CHURCH AND SHARE ABOUT FOSTER CARE AND ADOPTION. IT MAY BE ON A SUNDAY MORNING, SUNDAY NIGHT OR A WEEKNIGHT -- WHATEVER BEST FITS YOUR CHURCH. HERE’S WHY HAVING A REPRESENTATIVE COME IS IMPORTANT:

  1. IT GIVES YOUR MEMBERS AN OPPORTUNITY TO INTERACT. THEY NOT ONLY LEARN DETAILS ABOUT HOW THE FOSTER CARE AND ADOPTION PROCESS WORKS, BUT IT ALLOWS THEM TO ASK QUESTIONS AND HEAR THE NEED FIRSTHAND.

  2. GOD MAY MOVE IN PEOPLE’S HEARTS. THERE ARE PEOPLE IN OUR PEWS THAT GOD IS ALREADY CALLING TO THIS MINISTRY, BUT THEY MAY NOT RECOGNIZE IT UNTIL THE NEED IS SHARED WITH THEM. IT GIVES THEM, AS WELL AS YOUR CHURCH AS A WHOLE, THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE HOW GOD MAY BE LEADING.
